Crew Lead
As a Crew Lead for BlocHaven, you are acting as the manager on duty. The Crew Lead will facilitate the daily success of the gym through your leadership support skills. Working directly with the management team, you will assist in the daily operations of the building, mentor the rest of the crew to ensure our customer service exceeds expectations, and verify our safety standards are being upheld at all times during your shift. Your ability to demonstrate a positive attitude while solving the issue or concern at hand is critical to our success.
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Front Desk Operational Support: Oversee the facilities operation and flow of activities. Facilitate the crew’s workflow through the shift. Prioritize responsibilities in order to maintain a productive gym environment.
- Safety Standards: Ensure all staff are held to the safety standards demonstrated in training. I.e. ensuring all documents/certifications are being signed and checked before handing out any gear, auto belay and top rope users are being monitored, and encouraging newer climbers to downclimb. Inspect all areas of the gym for safety and cleanliness.
- Cleaning and Organization: Review, oversee and execute the completion of the daily cleaning tasks throughout the gym. Verify all merchandise in the retail space is neat and organized.

Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age, enthusiastic and enjoy working with a team of people, general mobility including, but not limited, to walking, kneeling, and standing, and proven ability to maintain a safe environment for others in adherence with provided protocol and standards.
Job Hours:
Ability to work at least 12 hours a week. With some availability on nights and weekends.

Crew Member
Crew Members are the embodiment of BlocHaven’s Community driven mission. Seeking individuals who are engaging, friendly, customer service focused, and able to adapting with different roles during a shift.
Our crew members share roles and will be moving between the different responsibilities listed below throughout their shifts.
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Front Desk:
Front desk staff are the first to greet every person that enters the gym and are the embodiment of BlocHaven’s Community driven mission.
Basic job duties include but are not limited to: Assist first time visitors through filling out waivers and guiding them through the facility, promote memberships, classes, and programming offered throughout the gym, handle general, retail, and membership sales, answer the phone and respond to messages, ensure all documents (waivers, orientations, certifications, etc) are signed, provide orientations and certifications to customers (facility, auto belay, etc), and complete the shifts cleaning tasks.
- Monitor:
Monitoring staff have the responsibility of enforcing BlocHaven’s risk management and safety procedures in a kind, positive, and professional manner.
Basic job duties include but are not limited to: Provide supervision of all climbers and enforcement of facility rules/regulations including but not limited to: the facility and attire rules listed on the signage throughout the gym, ensuring no climbing shoes are worn in the bathroom and no street shoes are on the climbing surfaces, ensure no harnesses or items on climber’s waist bands are worn when bouldering (I.e. keys, pocket knives, etc), encourage all climbers from beginner to expert, remind participants of downclimb holds, guide participants on BlocHaven’s red boulders and tag system, can perform top rope checks and are confident in the ability to pass or fail as needed, promote memberships, classes, and programming offered through the gym, provide orientations and certifications to customers (facility, auto belay, etc), and complete the shifts cleaning tasks.
- Float:
The float staff are a support to the rest of the crew, and most importantly during busy times. A high level of situational awareness is required during this shift.
Basic job duties include but are not limited to: Generally, the float will act as another monitor (view the roles and responsibilities above), be aware and in constant communication with the rest of the crew to know when you are needed and where. During busy times at the desk, the float will step in at the desk to assist and help to clear the lobby in a timely and efficient manner, then resume responsibilities as monitor once the lobby is cleared. When things are slow, you may be asked to complete various other tasks including cleaning. Ask your crew lead which cleaning tasks you should complete before finishing your shift.
Requirements:
Must be at least 16 years of age, enthusiastic and enjoy working with a team of people, general mobility including, but not limited, to walking, kneeling, and standing, and proven ability to maintain a safe environment for others in adherence with provided protocol and standards.

Coach
At BlocHaven, we are committed to creating a supportive and engaging environment for our team of staff as well as participating climbers. Coaches play an especially vital role in shaping the experience of our athletes, while embodying our core values of workplace teamwork, flexibility, and an enthusiasm to learn.
Club and Team Coaches at BlocHaven are expected to facilitate youth programming and instruction in an engaging and growth-driven manner. Coaches will be involved in various aspects of customer service, including communication with families, as well as managing risk and facilitating general group activities. This role requires a blend of leadership skills, effective communication, and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of climbers as well as the general facility.
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Program Instruction & Execution:
- Implement and manage the timeline of programming, as outlined by the respective Lead Coach.
- Adapt the delivery of coaching to accommodate the wide range of skill levels and interests within the group, ensuring inclusivity and growth opportunities for all participants.
- Group Facilitation & Customer Service:
- Lead groups in a dynamic and supportive manner, fostering a positive learning environment for enrolled participants.
- Provide guidance to both climbers and families, addressing any questions or concerns they may have to help ensure satisfaction with the program.
- Communication & Collaboration:
- Maintain clear and timely communication with Lead Coaches regarding the status of program activities, any disciplinary actions, general feedback, and concerns.
- Permanent scheduling and coverage requests should be directed toward the Team Lead Coach
- Collaborate with fellow coaches to ensure a unified approach to coaching.
- Participate in the ongoing development of both climbers and fellow team members, actively contributing to a growth-oriented work environment.
- Maintain clear and timely communication with Lead Coaches regarding the status of program activities, any disciplinary actions, general feedback, and concerns.
- Risk Management:
- Adhere to all safety guidelines outlined in BlocHaven’s Facility Orientation, ensuring that all activities are conducted in a responsible manner.
- Support general risk management efforts by being vigilant and proactive in identifying potential hazards and addressing them appropriately.
- Attitude & Professionalism:
- Display a positive, constructive attitude at all times and encourage an inclusive and supportive culture within the Club and Team.
- Approach any recurring or significant issues with a solution-oriented mindset and partner with the Lead Coach to address such issues.
- Flexibility & Availability:
- Maintain general availability and demonstrate flexibility by being willing to cover shifts as needed, which may occasionally include evenings and weekends.
- It is the primary responsibility for Club coaches to cover Club practices, same for Team coaches to cover Team practices; however, offering to help with cross-coverage (Club to Team, Team to Club) is highly encouraged.
- Maintain general availability and demonstrate flexibility by being willing to cover shifts as needed, which may occasionally include evenings and weekends.
Requirements:
- Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and SafeSport (or the willingness to obtain these certifications within a reasonable timeframe).
- Level 2 Background Check

Cafe Barista
As a Barista at BlocHaven, you’ll be part of a team that values high-quality service, a clean and efficient workspace, and friendly interactions with our fitness-focused community. You’ll help create a welcoming environment while preparing and serving drinks and light food options with care and consistency.
We’re looking for someone who is punctual, self-directed, and enjoys engaging with customers. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced setting, maintains attention to detail, and takes pride in leaving the space better than they found it.
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

Prepare and serve coffee and espresso drinks to standard

Bake pre-prepped cookie dough and assemble sandwiches

Prepare smoothie ingredients and restock café inventory

Maintain cleanliness and organization of café prep and service areas

Job Hours:
Up to 40 hours per week with shifts beginning at 7:30 a.m. Shifts are typically solo, and baristas keep all tips in addition to hourly pay.

Must be at least 18 years of age, reliable, and able to work independently. A friendly attitude, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask are essential.
